I would give this place four stars but no more because of the clientele.  We had breakfast after a dr. appointment.  I had the roast beef sandwich and while it was hard to eat with one hand (I'll be in a sling for awhile) it was tasty, not dried out, and quite good.  My husband had a breakfast skillet.
The staff were friendly and attentive.  Our problem was the Poor White Trash woman and her children that decided to sit in the next booth.  The woman held forth on the undesirability of her daughter's boyfriend (who sounded like a very nice young man), her daughter's sex life (??? who does this in public???) and her general thoughts of people.  Her kids tried to get her to shut up or at least keep it down, but she proclaimed she had no problems with anyone listening.  We DID have a problem listening as it was way too much information about strangers and totally nasty.  I wish the staff had tossed her out, but oh, well.  We will probably try this again, but not soon.

This review is thus far limited to breakfast since that is so far all we have ever had here, even though we have eaten here many times.

That proviso in mind, this is a great diner and one of my go-to places for weekday breakfast in particular.

Corned-beef hash (5 stars) is excellent and a favourites for us ever since we first had it.  It is nothing fancy but a great, consistently perfectly cooked mix of corned beef with green onions and hash browns plus two eggs.

Buttermilk pancakes (5) are also consistently excellent.  Yes, these are standard, basic buttermilk pancakes but while I love them when they are done well, they rarely are.  At most places, these are heavy and often undercooked.  Here, they cook them perfectly - light and fluffy but nicely toasty brown and they give lots of butter to go with them, freely giving even more if asked (I like lots of butter and just a little syrup on mine).

Toast as a side is also excellent (5).  Of course, it is just toast but here, unusually, it consistently is perfectly toasted and perfectly buttered with lots of butter spread right up to the very edge of the crust, not just a tiny smear as one typically finds.

Coffee is basic but fine (3)- not acrid or terribly watery as one often encounters.

Ham and eggs and the chicken-fried steak are weaker (3 stars for both).  The ham is mediocre and the chicken-fried steak doesn't really have a nice fried outside.  That said, they are both fine.

Service is usually excellent and always has been at least good.  We have always had one of two waitresses, one is good, the other is consistently excellent, friendly and attentive but not too much.

Very good pasta here. My boyfriend and I just tried this place out for Valentine's day and we were definitely way more focused on the food than eachother. I would highly  recommend this place for a nice sit down dinner

No rating. Very Disappointed. So a continental breakfast consists of a real breakfast. Here it is a slice of toast 4 ounces of OJ and one cup of coffee and one jelly pack for 6.95. A loaf a bread costs less. So I asked. Where the rest of my breakfast was?  the waitress seemed annoyed  I asked. Rude and not helpful. I don't think it deserves my star. But it wouldn't let me post without one. I had just got off my night shift and I was starving. They took to long for a menu and I asked if they had a continental breakfast and I wanted to order one or there special. A real joke. Not going there.

I like this place - it's not a place I would recommend for my friend's visiting the area per se, but it's good food. The waitress that's there most often is very courteous, prompt, and has obviously been doing it a long time.

I mostly get a scramble or omelet here - it's not over or under cooked, the potatoes are good, it's cheesy the way I like it. The chairs are a little high for the table - and you have to know that this is a DINER folks - not an Italian Restaurant as most would suppose - it's just a neighborhood diner that puts out hot food promptly.
